The New York Islanders, one of the NHL's most historic clubs, have moved from Long Island and now play their home games at the modern Barclays Center in Brooklyn. With a capacity of 14,500 spectators, Barclays Center is not only the home arena for the Islanders but also for the NBA team Brooklyn Nets. From central Manhattan, you can now quickly visit three NHL teams: New York Rangers, New York Islanders, and New Jersey Devils.

The New York Islanders reached their peak in the early 1980s with four consecutive Stanley Cup titles between 1980 and 1983. The team dominated the NHL during this period with players like Mike Bossy, Denis Potvin, and Bryan Trottier. Swedish stars such as Anders Kallur, Stefan Persson, Tomas Jonsson, and Mats Hallin also contributed to the team’s successes. In 1982 and 1983, the Islanders swept their opponents in the finals, winning 4-0 against the Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers, who had legends like Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier. Since their fourth Stanley Cup title, the Islanders have not reached the same heights, but the club remains an important part of NHL history.
