It all started with players from the local cricket team looking for something to do outside of the cricket season. They began playing football in a public park in the fall of 1884, which eventually developed into the founding of St. Johnstone FC. The club's home stadium is, since 1989, McDiarmid Park. The arena's audience capacity is 10,696 spectators.
