Sparta Rotterdam is a football club from the city of Rotterdam in the central Netherlands. The club was founded on April 1, 1888 and is by far the country's oldest professional football club. The club plays its home matches at Sparta Stadium, also called Het Kasteel. The arena has an audience capacity of 11,926 spectators. The team plays in red and white striped jerseys and black shorts and has been nicknamed The Rood-Witte Gladiator (The red-white gladiators).
