Reading FC was founded in 1871 and this makes the club one of England's oldest football clubs. The nickname is The Royals, much because the city of Reading is part of the Royal County of Berkshire. For 102 years, the club played its home games at Elm Park, but in 1998 they then moved to Madjeski Stadium, named after a former club chairman, Sir John Madjeski.
Reading FC usually play with their home colors which are white shorts and blue jerseys with vertical white stripes. Important players in the club's history are the Englishmen Robin Friday, Trevor Senior and Steve Death. In more modern times goalkeeper Shaka Hislop has played for Reading, later also national team player in Trinidad and Tobago.
