Borussia Verein für Leibesübungen 1900 e.V. Mönchengladbach, most commonly called Borussia Mönchengladbach, was founded in 1900 and with its long name, it is thankful that the abbreviation Gladbach or the nicknames Die Fohlen (The Colts) and Die Borussen (The Prussians) can often be used instead. The home matches are played at Borussia Park, with room for about 54,000 supporters. A note to mention is that jersey number 12 is retired, as a tribute to the 12th player during a match, that is, their supporters in the stands.

The club colors are white and black and one of the biggest rivals in Germany is 1 FC Köln, which also comes from the same region. Gladbach has a large number of legends who have contributed through the ages, two of the biggest are Berti Vogts with the most games played and Jupp Heynckes with the most goals scored. Both were skilled players who then went on to other clubs and national teams as at least as skilled coaches.

The Swedish connection is great to the club when both Martin Dahlin and Patrik Andersson made a big impression in Gladbach in the 1990s, during the same period as they also became celebrated bronze heroes with the Swedish national team in the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the USA.
