Millwall FC was founded in 1885 and first had the name Millwall Rovers. They got their colors, blue and white, because they were founded by Scottish workers who worked in the port of Isle of dogs, Millwall London. The team has retained its name even though they no longer play in Millwall. The team's nickname "The Lions" was adopted in 1979 and their club weapons are a picture of a lion. Its slogan confirms their supporters' cocky approach, "No one like us - we don´t care".
Millwall plays their matches at The Den in Bermonsdey south east London. Tradition on the Den is that before the match starts play their official club song "Let‘ em Come ". The Den has a capacity of about 20,000 spectators.
One of the most famous players from Millwall is Teddy Sheringham he was best scorer four seasons in a row from 1986 to 1991. For us Swedes also known because he for some time played in swedish topclub Djurgården before returning to England and playing in several of the big clubs including Totteham and Manchester United.
The club has reached the FA Cup semifinals a couple of times, but in 2004 the team reached all the way to the FA Cup final where they met Manchester United. Manchester United won the 3-0 final. In 2004, they also qualified for the UEFA Europa League.
Millwall has several derbies during their history with games in the various leagues, but those who are most often talked and written about are those played against West Ham, they have long been great rivalries between the clubs. The supporters of Millwall are known for their worship to the club and not always portrayed in a positive sense. Other teams that have southern London as home ground are the League One team Charlton Athletic, as well as Crystal Palace and West Ham who are both currently playing in the Premier League.
We at Go Sport Travel offer you official match tickets to experience the atmosphere of The Den live. Safe and secure ticket delivery guarantees your football experience. The hopes for success for the team are high for the upcoming season in the Championship.
The possibilities of shaping just your unique football trip to London, with several matches included, are now even easier. The Premier League started on 12/9 and initially the stands will be closed. The clubs' arenas are approved for reduced capacity and when fans are welcome in the stands, it is anything from 20% -40% as it looks right now.
How does this affect you as a traveler?
You have probably read in the media that the places that are released will only go to members of the club. This is to some extent true, but we are proud to announce that GO Sport Travel, through long and very good relations with the clubs, will keep our agreements in line with the reduced capacity the clubs will soon present.
With the help of GO Sport Travel AB, you can continue to be one of those who sit in the stands and experience the Premier League live, already in October!
It is planned that each visitor needs to take certain wise measures, such as wearing a mouth guard, etc. In addition, each visitor's name will be printed on the ticket, and subsequent identity checks will take place upon arrival at the arena area.
In short, each visitor must have their ticket registered by the club. The registration is of course handled by GO Sport Travel on behalf of the visitor.
The clubs are very happy to have a high level of security in which visitors they have in place, both for themselves and the visitors. The clubs also hope that the number of less desirable ticket players will decrease. We encourage you to be observant when listening to other actors.
There may be ticket / tour operators who will convey that the above restrictions will not be required, but this is not correct information.
We look forward to announcing soon when we, together with the clubs, open the sale for the upcoming Premier League season.
