Málaga Club de Fútbol, ??commonly known as Málaga CF, is a Spanish football club based in the city of Málaga, Andalusia. The club was originally founded in 1904 as Málaga Foot-Ball Club, but the current incarnation dates to 1948 after several re-formations and mergers, most recently as Club Deportivo Málaga.
Málaga CF play their home matches at Estadio La Rosaleda, an arena with a capacity of over 30,000 spectators. The club has a long history in Spanish football, but has often been overshadowed by the bigger teams from Madrid and Barcelona.
During the 2000s, Málaga CF experienced a period of success and stability, especially after they were bought by Qatari Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al Thani in 2010. Under the leadership of coach Manuel Pellegrini, the team achieved its greatest success in the 2012-2013 season when they qualified for the UEFA Champions League and reached the quarter-finals, where they were knocked out by Borussia Dortmund after a dramatic match.
Despite this success, the club has also faced financial challenges, leading to relegation from La Liga in 2018. Málaga CF has since struggled to return to the top division, with a strong and passionate fanbase supporting the team through its ups and downs.
