Lille OSC was founded as late as 1944, in the middle of World War II, through a merger of two clubs. The club can be proud of both domestic league and cup titles but also a international victory in the Intertoto Cup 2004.
With the nickname Les Dogues, or LOSC, they usually play in their red-blue match shirts. Their home stadium is Stade Pierre-Mauroy and one of the biggest rivals is local rival RC Lens, the intense matches between the clubs are usually called the Derby du Nord.
