Racing Club de Lens, or RC Lens, comes from the small town of Lens and was founded in 1906. They usually play in red and yellow striped jerseys and their home matches at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis, with a capacity of about 38,000 supporters. The nickname most commonly used for RC Lens is Sang et Or (Blood and gold).
One of the club's most famous players of all time is the Cameroonian Marc-Vivien Foé, who played for the club between 1994–1998. During this time he became a very popular and important player for the club. Foé unfortunately died tragically in the middle of a football match in 2003 which later contributed to great tributes to him around the world. In Lens, they chose to rename a street near Stade Bollaert-Delelis after him.
