Leeds United was founded in 1919 and as early as 1924 it was time to move up in the highest English division. In the 1960s and 1970s, however, Leeds dominated the English football scene. During that period, Leeds won two English championships, a Ligacup title, two UEFA Cup titles, and a victory in what we today call the Champions League. Since Leeds was forced to relocate in 2007, Leeds has been in the lower divisions in England. Leeds still managed to play up to the second best division, The Championship, in 2010 and has since been in a steady place in the table there. But now the club's strong goal is to reach the highest division and be able to re-establish itself in the Premier League.
Leeds was one of the first clubs in England to form a football academy when it was founded in 1992. The academy gives the club's youth an opportunity to combine studies with developing their football knowledge under professional management. The Academy has educated several of the club's current as well as former players over the years, including Aaron Lennon, James Milner, Paul Robinson and more. Leeds has also had a couple of Swedes representing the club, for example Teddy Lucic, Pontus Jansson and one of the leading players from the Swedish de bronze team in 1994 when they took the World Cup bronze in the USA, no less than Tomas Brolin.
