Founded in 1905, Arminia Biefeld is a great pride for the city of Bielefeld, in northwestern Germany. The club colors are blue, white and black. The home matches have been played at Bielefelder Alm Stadium since 1926, but in 2004 the name was SchücoArena through one of the club's sponsors. About 27,000 spectators can take a seat at the arena.
Otto Rehhagel is a well-known name who coached the club before moving on and later coaching Greece to the European Championship in 2004. A player legend is the old national team star Thomas Helmer who began his senior career in Arminia Bielefeld and played there 1984–1986.
