The Six Nations Championship, also known as the Guinness Six Nations, is played annually between England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales.
The origin of this extremely popular tournament is the Home Nations Championshop, which had its first edition as early as 1883 between England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. This was also the first ever international tournament in Rugby Union.
In 1910, France joined the tournament and thus the tournament changed its name to the Five Nations Championship. Once Italy joined, the tournament adopted its current name, the Six Nations Championship.

Each team plays 5 matches each year. In even years, France, Ireland and Wales have the advantage of three home matches and England, Italy and Scotland then play two home matches. Odd years, the order is the reverse. Tournament takes place every year in February / March.
Six Nations is among the largest that can be experienced in Rugby and is very popular even outside the participating countries and approx. 60 countries have TV coverage!
