The USA Grand Prix is a part of the Formula 1 World Championship that has been held in Austin-Texas, at the Circuit of the Americas (abbreviated as COTA) since 2012. In addition to Formula 1, the Moto GP, V8 Supercars and Indycar Series also run alternately on this track. Since 2019, Circuit of the Americas is also a race track in the Indycar Series. Before a competition, about 120,000 spectators can take a seat for live motorsport!

Previously, the US Grand Prix was held at Sebring International Raceway (1959), Riverside International Raceway (1960), Watkins Glen International (1961–1980), Dallas Grand Prix Circuit (1984), Detroit Circuit (1985–1988), Phoenix Circuit (1989–1991) and Indianapolis Motor Speedway (2000–2007). After a break of almost 4 years without a Grand Prix in the USA, Circuit of the Americas then had the opportunity to host from 2012.

The German architect Hermann Tilke is responsible for the design of the latest track in Austin and has previously been known for creating, among other things, the F1 tracks Istanbul Park and the reconstruction of the classic German track Hockenheimring.

The design of the course is laid out with a total of 20 curves and the total distance for one lap is 5.5 km. Part of the section has elements from several European courses, such as curves that are similar to several from Silverstone's course and also has a similar arena curve that the Hockenheimring has.

The lap record on the Circuit of the Americas with a Formula 1 car is 1: 39.47 and it was set in 2012 by the German Sebastian Vettel. The one who has taken the most victories in the USA Grand Prix through the ages is the Englishman Lewis Hamilton who has won the most first places at COTA but also managed to win 2007 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway!
