Yas Marina Circuit, located on Yas Island just outside the United Arab Emirates' capital Abu Dhabi, is one of the latest additions to the F1 circus. The course was completed in October 2009 and has since 2014 hosted the final race in the F1 WC at the end of November. The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is quite unique in its kind as it is run on a track located on an artificial island.

The circuit is designed by the German engineer Hermann Tilke, who over the years has designed a long line of F1 tracks and also other motor tracks. In total, Yas Marina Circuit measures 5,554 m and consists of as many as 21 curves and chicanes, which makes the course quite demanding technically and above all the last third towards the start-and-finish straight. However, this is something that is appreciated by the drivers.

Yas Marina Circuit began construction in the spring of 2007 after it was announced earlier that year that the F1 circus would come to Abu Dhabi in 2009. The track was fully completed in October of the same year and on November 1 the very first Formula 1 race was run in Abu Dhabi as for otherwise also was the last of the season that year. The winner was the German Sebastian Vettel who with it secured second place behind the British Jenson Button who took home the overall World Cup victory.

Abu Dhabi and Yas Marina Circuit usually host the final race of the championship, at the end of November or the beginning of December. 

The track record at Yas Marina Circuit, held by German Sebastian Vettel, is from the premiere race in 2009 and reads 1: 40.279. Vettel is also the one who has the most victories in the F1 context on the track, namely three.
